A Fine Finale

I've been quite busy due to the horrendous number of activities that seem to plague the end of the school year. As for ISM, I finished my rehearsal presentation two weeks ago, so I'm glad I got that over with. This weekend, I was able to complete the last little portion of my Original Work presentation--the albinism research. Actually just kidding, it wasn't 'little' at all, and it took me the longest of the three diseases because of albinism's complexity. This week, I plan to record my final Original Work presentation over the next couple of days and submit by Thursday. It's really exciting that this is the last thing I'll ever have to do for ISM, and I can't wait to get the recording over with. I hope to remain in contact with my mentor even after the school year ends (which is pretty soon) because I really enjoyed the meetings we've had. Sadly, I put a hold on them due to the monstrosity of AP exams during this time, but I am hopeful they will resume to a consistent level.

This being my final blog post, I'd like to thank Mr. Pirtle for being a great nurturer and being the amazing nutrients that slowly enriched the plant that was me over this past year. The need to speak well and speak well frequently in ISM was really what led me to break out of my shell of stuttering and mumbling. I also want to thank my mentor for being there nearly every step of the way in my learning this year and also being so flexible--I really did not expect a medical professional to be so understanding in terms of scheduling. Finally, I'd like to acknowledge my parents for encouraging me when I couldn't find a mentor and supporting me on all my academic journeys, not just ISM.
